1. 并列连词：

   And，or，either......or，neither......nor，not only......but also,  as well as。

   The weather is mild today; it is neither hot nor cold.

   今天天气很温暖，不冷也不热。

   People who are either under age or over age can not join the army.

   年龄不到或超龄的人都不得参军。

   He has two children, and both of them are naughty.

   他有两个小孩，都很调皮。

   The criticisms are founded on facts as well as on convictions.

2. 因果连词

   For，so，thus，accordingly，consequently，as a result。

   You are supposed to get rid of carelessness, for it often leads to serious errors.

3. 转折连词

   But、yet、while、however。

   At first he was a little shy, but now he acts more natural.  

   开始他有些腼腆，但现在他表现得很自然了。

   You have nobody but yourself to blame.

   只能怪你自己。

   It is strange, yet it is true.

   那真是怪事，然而却是事实。

   Some people waste food while others haven’t enough.

   有人糟蹋粮食，但也有人食不果腹。

4. 举例连词

   As，such as，like，take......for example，for instance.

   Do avoid potentially contentious subjects such as religion,sex or politics.

   一定要避免可能会引起争议的话题，如宗教、性和政治。

   They will be concerned to do the right thing----to dress properly,for instance.

   他们要注意行为是否恰当-----比如说，穿着得体。

   No one sings the blues like she did.

   没人像她那样唱布鲁斯。

5. 总结连词

   In a word，to sum up，in brief = in short，in conclusion，all in all。

   In conclusion,we will all experience ups and downs in life.

   总之，等待琼斯的似乎是一个相当令人沮丧的夏天。

   毫无疑问，巴西是世界上的足球大国之一。

2. 表示举例

   For example 比如；For instance 比如；Take...... for example 以......举例；Except for 除了......；To illustrate the point 为了说明观点。

3. 表示对比

   By contrast 对比之下；On the contrary 相反；On the other hand 另一方面；Different from 不同的是；In contrast 相反；Rather than 而不是；Instead of 而不是。

   This won't do any good; on the contrary, it will make things even worse.

   这样做不但于事无补，反会把事情弄糟。

4. 表示总结

   On the whole 总之；In conclusion 总结；In a word 总结；To sum up 总的来说；In brief 简短来说；In summary 总结；To conclude 总结；In summary 总结；In short 总之。

   To sum up, I think we should take a calm, objective view of network language.

   总的来说，我认为我们应该对网络语言持一个冷静、客观的态度。

5. 表示时间

   In general 通常情况下；At other times 平时，在其他时候；In most cases 大多数情况下；As a rule 通常，一般来说；At the same time 同时；Now and then 偶尔；In a few days  几天之后；Long time ago 很久之前；At present 目前，现在；To begin with 一开始；To start with 一开始；From now on 从现在开始；From then on 从那时开始；At that moment 在那时。

   As a rule, however, such attacks have been aimed at causing damage rather than taking life.

   然而，通常此类袭击只是为了造成破坏，并非要人性命。
